I always track the books I’m reading. It’s just how I operate. Not through any particular system, though. As much as I love LibraryThing and GoodReads, I’m not really up to using their system of record. It takes a lot of effort that I don’t necessarily want to put in for the results.

Instead, I use my own system. Which really just amounts to a word document for each year laid out like this:

Book Name/Author                Date Completed                 Book#

Anyway, the point is that there are books that I have on a “must read” list. Not necessarily because they’re amazing but because I’m looking for fun. On occasion (re: frequently/all the time) these books come from a catalogue of novels that I’ve been meaning to get to forever.

This year, no matter what, the books I want to read are:

  • The Once and Future King, by T.H. White
  • Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

I know, that’s not an extensive backlog of books, but rest assured, there are more on that list than I could name right now. These just happen to be the two that I’m devoted to actually finishing.

With that, happy reading and good wishes for completing long abandoned books.
